rosewood sessions podcast

In October 2025, Brooke Lavelle (Courage of Care) and OB MacDougall invited Tenzin Lama and me to participate in the Rosewood Sessions: a monthly dialogue, podcast, and community dinner series at the Wyckoff community space in Ridgewood, Queens.

About the series, in the words of its organizers:

The Rosewood Sessions are an intimate, curated event series which brings together two local NYC-based healers, organizers, activists, artists, and the like—who don’t already know one another—for an evening of meaningful exchange. Guests are paired on themes and because we sense a potential connection.

In this time of fracturing, polarization, state violence, we have found that we need the resonant vibrance of deep relational connections. Our power lies in resonance, not in the sharp spiked energy of fracture.

It felt important to us to not try to force collaboration, or a project, or a “deliverable” out of these gatherings, but rather to create the conditions that support authentic, mutual encounters.

Before the event, Tenzin and I were made known to each other as two New Yorkers from western Queens with shared commitments to exploring lineage, identity, multiplicity, and rootedness.

In our unstructured Rosewood Session episode together, I loved how we unraveled questions about life span and lifetimes, un/knowing, the intertwining of place, identity, and im/migration, and how we’re creating cross-generational rituals and life practices.

It was a gift and privilege to slow down and notice together, especially during a time when crises in the United States are amplifying the need for loving solidarity. I appreciate so much the invitation to be part of this deeply relational, deliberate, yet organic moment of connection with Tenzin, Brooke, OB, and the others who were present for this conversation.
